Colmar's covered market halls first opened its doors in 1865. The building symbolizes the industrial revolution in Colmar at the end of the nineteenth century. This is mainly reflected in the architectural style and the choice of building materials. In 2010 the market halls were completely restored and they have regained their original function. Since the re-opening of the halls, there is a permanent market in the halls, only on Sundays the gates of the hall remain closed. On Thursdays there are also several stalls outside the halls. The market halls are not too big, but there is an abundance of delicious fresh products. In addition to the fruit and vegetable stalls, the butchers and poulterers, there is also a bakery that sells delicious fresh pretzels.
