The exact date of this church's construction is unknown, but documents from the late 16th century mention it as the main church. The current church was rebuilt with the help of the local residents, who wanted the biggest, most beautiful and least expensive church possible. So, in the evenings (after work) or on Sundays, they helped out by transporting materials from the Borde Rouge brickworks near the canal. This church has only one nave.
