The Moulin du Poudrier is located on the banks of the Vienne River, on a 4-hectare estate that has been a flour mill since the late 16th century.
It was requisitioned by Louis XIV as a royal gunpowder mill, hence the name "Le Poudrier". It then became a porcelain factory, a hydroelectric power station and a spinning mill. In 1998, the mill was bought by Jacques Vignéras, who restored it with Paolo Del Vecchio. The site has now regained its prestige.
The garden is a magical place that awakens all the senses. A recent addition, it is of Franco-Italian inspiration, with fountains, pottery and terracotta statues. It's an ornamental garden, featuring over 400 plants and remarkable trees (a plane tree over a hundred years old, a secular cedar). There's also an open-air theater where shows are staged.
