Present in Langres from 1623 to 1984, the Annonciade sisters were dedicated to divine contemplation. In addition to the vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, they took strict enclosure and total withdrawal from the world. Initially housed in a nearby residence, the congregation bought the house of Jean Girault, Seigneur de Croy, in 1624. This plot of land, enlarged by successive purchases, enabled the congregation to build a new, larger chapel in 1684. The convent itself was rebuilt in 1704. The sobriety of the whole undoubtedly reflects the austerity and self-effacement of the Annonciade sisters.
