At the beginning of the 18th century, Duke Louis II de Rochechouart-Mortemart, using his seigneurial rights, authorized fairs and markets. The hall may well date back to this period. Rectangular in plan and open, it features 12 oak posts supporting a framework of four trusses. The roof is made of canal tiles. It was restored in 2013. Important monthly fairs continued to be held in Mortemart until the Second World War.
