"Orestes Taking Refuge at the Altar of Pallas" on the Place St Nizier is a work by Pierre-Charles Simart, a Trojan artist born in 1806 and died in 1857 in Paris.
He was inspired by Aeschylus' version of the Orestes story.
It is a bronze cast made from a plaster model kept in the Museum of Fine Arts in Troyes. The original sculpture was made in Rome in 1838. The marble creation is in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Rouen.
