Water tower built in 1788 (date mentioned), at the end of the 18th century (year IV) on the fortress wall topped by a building used as an office for the chief engineer.
Fontaine Louis XVI is also called Fontaine de la Chefferie.
The engine room was later converted into common rooms. Between 1844 and 1865 a similar building was built on the other side of the stairs, with stables, a shed in the embankment and an office on the embankment. The buildings on the embankment were damaged during the war of 1939-1945. The remains were destroyed in 1958. Decorated by the sculptor Antoine Harrewyn, known as Beau Soleil.
