The sixth Sandettié, named after the Banc de Sandettié , was the last French fireboat to enter service.
It was built in 1947 at Forges et chantiers de la Méditerranée, in Graville le Havre, under the name BF 6 (bateau-feu no 6) and was decommissioned in June 1989 when it was purchased by the city of Dunkirk.
She is now part of the floating collection of the Musée Portuaire de Dunkerque , alongside the three-masted schooner Duchesse Anne. The Sandettié has been listed as a historical monument since 17 March 19972. She is one of only four lightships still visible in France and the only one that can be visited.
