The landscape around Sint Kruis [Sinte Kruus] is one of the most authentic in West-Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Especially at the beginning of summer, when the wheat and flax begin to ripen, it is beautiful. You cycle peacefully between the fields that are intersected by rustic creeks. The inhabited world seems far away. In the village café, you can grab a refreshment. In the past, horses were shod here, nowadays you go for a pint at Greetje.
The Pepper Bus
The church and tower date back to the 14th century. The blunt tower once served as a beacon for shipping in the Zwin to and from Sluis, when that water was still navigable. The tower is also commonly referred to as ‘The Pepper Bus’.
