At this natural elevation in the landscape, P. van Loon built the wooden hunting lodge Hilverroode in 1792. This building was replaced by a stone structure named Hilveroord. Various outbuildings such as farms, a gardener's house, and a library were constructed on the grounds. The last large house was demolished in 1986. The area is now closed off.
