Indeed, this Edese church is very old. The current shape of the church dates back to 1643, except for the north aisle, which was only added in the 20th century. However, a church was already mentioned at this location in 1216. The always present churchyard that used to be found here is no longer there. It was cleared in 1970 to make way for the new construction of the town hall.
Due to the good acoustics and the special organ from 1877, organ concerts are regularly held in the Old Church.
