The name Driebruggen probably refers to three bridges: the bridge over the Dubbele Wiericke, the bridge at the end of the village center near the Dorpshuis Custwijc. And once there was a third smaller bridge between these two bridges. It was likely located at the intersection of Kerkweg and Sierkersstraat, but there is no trace of it left now.
In Driebruggen, there are still a few historical buildings to be found. 't Hooge Huys on the south bank along the Dubbele Wiericke is the oldest and dates from the 17th century. On the Kerkweg stands the former doctor's house, which is from 1885, and the former town hall from 1928.
