Zinc white, Ing. Roccourstraat 28, Caestert (Eijsden)
The old zinc white factory of Eijsden has traditionally been the largest employer in Eijsden. The zinc white factory was founded in 1870 by Belgian engineer George Rocour and started production in January 1871. Zinc white is a white pigment that is used in the paint industry and the rubber industry, among others. Currently, the factories Ineos Silica and Umicore are located here.
Here is also the office building in a traditional architectural style, which was built in 1928 on behalf of the Dutch Zinc White Company, designed by the architects V.F. Marres and W.J. Sandhövel from Maastricht.
