The church is dedicated to St. Peter's Bands.
Around 1500, a single-nave cruciform church was built on the site of the present church.
In 1880-1882 the church was extended to the design of architect Jan Jurien van Langelaar.
In 1931-1932 the church was given an extra nave to the east of the then existing transept and the church was given side aisles.
In 1944, during the Second World War, the tower was blown up and part of the ship was destroyed.
In 1950-1952 the church was rebuilt to the design of architect W. Bunnik. The church on the west side was extended against which a new tower was built.
