Abbey of Koningshoeven

Here, in collaboration with the Trappists of the O.L.V. of Koningshoeven Abbey, all La Trappe beers are developed and brewed. Only when beer is brewed within the walls of a Trappist monastery under the supervision and responsibility of the monks, may it bear the name 'Trappist beer'. A portion of the proceeds from La Trappe beers goes to the monasteries in Indonesia and Uganda, which originated from Koningshoeven. When the Trappists settled near Tilburg, it initially did not go so well. They rented three farms from a factory owner, but the land was poor and the work did not yield enough to live on.
