The Kapellerlaan, which was established in 1730, was still almost completely undeveloped around the middle of the 19th century. Between 1860 and 1940, the avenue was gradually filled with a combination of townhouses, shops, and a few villas.
Kapellerlaan 55-57 was designed by the Roermond architect and contractor Henri Delsing. On January 8, 1885, he submitted the application for a building permit to the municipality of Roermond. He built the properties as speculative objects. After the death of Henri Delsing, the properties remained in the possession of the family.
