Meierijstad is a Dutch municipality, which was established on 1 January 2017 by the merger of three East Brabant municipalities in the Meierij region: the two-unit Veghel (including Erp), (38,304 inhabitants) and Schijndel (23,624 inhabitants), plus the added Sint-Oedenrode (17,907 inhabitants). The redistricting election required for this merger was held on November 23, 2016.
With 81,648 inhabitants, Meierijstad is the seventh largest municipality in North Brabant in terms of population. In terms of area, it is the second largest municipality in the province. The town hall with the municipal executive and the official organization is located on the Stadhuisplein in Veghel. The council meetings of the municipality take place in Dommelrode Castle, the former town hall of Sint-Oedenrode.
