The Cachot of Appelscha was built in 1921. A "storage" for drunk and misbehaving people. The Cachot has 2 cells, one for male and one for female prisoners. The location was determined by the constable.
The Historical Society Appelscha manages the dungeon and has had it restored. As far as is known, this is the only remaining storage facility in Friesland. During the summer months, the interior can be viewed through the glass doors.
