The garden, which originates from the 16th century, derives its name from the vine that grew in the monastery garden that was once here. The historical value of the garden is underscored by several trees that are over 100 years old. In 1888, the Haarlem landscape architect J.D. Zocher designed the current layout of the garden, which is especially visible in the planting from that period.
