During works in the convent and church of Santa Clara, the fountain was dismantled and reduced to a pile of rubble .
Manuel Agonia Palmeira restored the beautiful fountain , slightly raised to obtain a more aesthetic environment, with the expertise of master stonemasons. It was flanked by beautiful tile panels depicting two emblematic Romanesque monuments in the municipality: the Ponte d'Ave and the church of Rio Mau.
