Wat Song Huai in Mae Tan Ancient Town has no historical evidence of its establishment. Still, the architectural style of the structures and artefacts suggests that this temple was established in the Lan Na period in the 15th century. The site of an ordination hall (ubosot) with the main stupa behind it, an assembly hall (vihara), and some smaller stupas are all surrounded by a boundary wall. There is also an ancient kiln and the southern part consists of seven ancient buildings, assumed to have been the residential area for the monks. This archaeological site was excavated and restored by the 6th Regional Office of Fine Arts, Sukhothai in 2018 CE.
