En Wambeek encontrarás muchos enlaces a Pol De Mont. Así, las calles alrededor de la iglesia llevan su nombre y también hay un sendero Pol De Mont. Pol De Mont o Charles Polydore de Mont fue un escritor y poeta flamenco que nació en Wambeek. Junto con Albrecht Rodenbach, fundó Het Pennoen. En 1880 se publicó su colección de poemas Gedichten, galardonada con el V Premio Estatal de Literatura Flamenca. En 1904 fue nombrado conservador del Museo Real de Bellas Artes en Amberes. Un año después, fue uno de los fundadores de la revista De Vlaamse Gids. En 1919 renunció como conservador después de ser acusado en la prensa de activismo. Se convirtió en editor jefe del periódico de inclinación flamenca De Schelde. Algunos de sus colaboradores allí fueron Paul van Ostaijen y Alice Nahon.
