El Borrelmanneke vierte ginebra de un barril mientras está sentado sobre un buey. Entre las patas de ese buey hay lechones. De esta manera, la estatua simboliza el ciclo que se ha formado entre las destilerías, la ganadería y la agricultura.
Una vez al año (durante las fiestas de la ginebra) no fluye agua, sino ginebra de su barril.
