Het Borrelmanneke giet jenever uit een ton terwijl hij op een os zit. Tussen de poten van die os zijn er zwijntjes. Op deze manier symboliseert het standbeeld de kringloop die ontstaan is tussen stokerijen, veeteelt en landbouw.
Eén keer per jaar (tijdens de jeneverfeesten) vloeit er geen water, maar jenever uit zijn tonnetje.
