La plaza Zanthier es una de las primeras estaciones en el sendero Heinrich-Heine de Ilsenburg al Brocken. Un monumento en honor al guardabosques Hans Dietrich von Zanthier se encuentra en un claro. Esta fue una de las fundadoras de la gestión forestal moderna y abrió la primera escuela de silvicultura en Alemania alrededor del año 1764 en Ilsenburg.
También hay un pequeño refugio en la plaza Zanthier. Quien deba hacer una pausa aquí es mejor que no comience el sendero hacia la cima del Brocken.
