El Lützelburg es un castillo en ruinas y, por lo tanto, un monumento arqueológico en Kempten. No se conocen datos exactos sobre su origen y propiedad. Johann Baptist Haggenmüller hace referencia en su libro de historia publicado en 1840, Historia de la ciudad y del principado de la comarca de Kempten, a un puente de madera entre la Burghalde, que se encuentra a solo unos metros al norte, y el Lützelburg en el siglo XI. No se conocen pruebas concretas para esto. Según Joseph Meirhofer, los castillos estaban conectados por un "pasaje".
En una de las vistas generales más antiguas de la ciudad, un grabado en madera de Hanß Abelin y Hanß Rogel de 1569, todavía hay un castillo en la colina. En una ilustración de 1673, que fue dibujada por Matthäus Merian, el Lützelburg aparece como ruina.
