La plaza Mercator tiene un vínculo claro con el cartógrafo Mercator, ya que en la plaza hay un gran globo terráqueo dibujado. No se podría haber pensado en un mejor símbolo para esta región multicultural de la ciudad. Al caminar por la plaza no se ve mucho, pero si estás en el 'oído' elevado de la plaza, la carta se ve claramente dibujada. ¡Y incluso se ha utilizado la proyección de Mercator!
