La station de pompage est situé sur la digue de la Vliet et se trouve sur le côté gauche de la réserve naturelle 'Île du Nord', connue pour sa grande richesse ornithologique. Depuis 1976, l'eau de la Vliet est collectée dans un bassin de collecte et est pompée via une station de pompage dans les eaux du canal beaucoup plus hautes pour éviter des inondations, comme celle de Ruisbroek en 1976.
