On suppose que c'était à l'origine la maison des frères du chapitre noble. C'est ici que des ecclésiastiques étaient logés pour prêcher en tant que prêtres dans l'église du chapitre ou pour entendre les confessions. Après la Révolution française, le bâtiment est tombé entre les mains de la famille de Matthys qui en fit un hôtel particulier de style classiciste. En 1950, c'était même un hôtel-restaurant. Tant le château que le parc sont protégés en tant que paysage.
