La brasserie Elbschloss a été fondée en 1881 à Nienstedten, dans la province de Prusse, et était la seule entreprise industrielle importante de cet endroit. Elle a été construite sur une partie de l'ancien parc qui appartenait au manoir néoclassique Baur, construit entre 1804 et 1806 par Christian Frederik Hansen. Le manoir Baur était surnommé « Elbschlösschen », d'où provient le nom de la brasserie.
La marque la plus connue de cette brasserie était le Ratsherrn Pils, qui aurait été brassé en 1978 à raison de 150 000 hectolitres. De plus, le Pils noir Dübelsbrücker Dunkel, créé en 1988, a été brassé, un clin d'œil au voisinage de Teufelsbrück.
