Cet hôtel particulier fut reconstruit dans la seconde moitié du XVIIIème siècle. Il doit son nom à l'un de ses propriétaires, Pierre-Antoine-Victor Huot de Goncourt, ancien capitaine d'artillerie et oncle des écrivains Jules et Edmond de Goncourt, qui l'acheta en 1816. De l'édifice qui l'a précédé, il ne subsiste que les caves de la fin du XVème ou du XVIème siècle, sous le corps principal.
Cette bâtisse est sans doute la plus belle réalisation d'architecture civile néocastrienne. Construite en pierre de taille, elle offre un parti de symétrie à cinq travées réparties sur trois niveaux.
