Au XVIIIe siècle, de nombreux domaines ont été fondés dans les environs d'Amsterdam. L'un d'eux est Waterland. Les villas étaient habituellement occupées pendant les mois d'été, lorsque les canaux d'Amsterdam dégageaient une odeur nauséabonde. Le domaine de Waterland comprend une zone naturelle de 29 hectares. En 2000, une fondation a été créée pour préserver le manoir construit entre 1742 et 1766 et conçu par Pieter de Swart. Ce bâtiment principal accompagné de dépendances et de l'aménagement du parc a été déclaré monument national. Il est disponible comme lieu de mariage et des événements peuvent y avoir lieu.
