La vecchia birreria di Potsdam si trova a Babelsberg, nella vecchia colonia di tessitori, dietro il lotto di Alt Nowawes 30 e 30a. La birreria consisteva in più parti di edificio. Secondo i pochi documenti disponibili, la torre di raffreddamento fu costruita per prima tra il 1860 e il 1875. A partire dal 1895 vennero realizzati l'edificio principale nello stile del neorinascimentale e la stalla per cavalli. Fino al 1939 qui si produceva la birra "Schlossbräu".
Durante la guerra, le cantine a volta servirono come rifugi antiaerei. In seguito, negli edifici ci furono una falegnameria, un laboratorio e vari magazzini. Dopo la caduta del muro, gli edifici rimasero vuoti e andarono in rovina. Su incarico della città, nel 2004 un ente di riqualificazione acquistò il lotto e redasse un piano di sviluppo.
