La chiesa di Sainte Barbe fu costruita nel 1938-1939 su progetto dell'architetto Claude Robbe e completata da Alphonse Fenaud, suo successore; è dedicata a Sainte Barbe, patrona dei minatori.
Costruita interamente in metallo, con una struttura portante in acciaio e un rivestimento in lamiera verniciata, la chiesa fu concepita come prototipo per la produzione in serie di chiese per i territori da evangelizzare. Una vetrata raffigurante Sainte Barbe è stata realizzata dai laboratori Mauméjean di Parigi, sulla base di un cartone animato di Hélène Delaroche. I dipinti murali di Nicolas Untersteller (marito di Hélène Delaroche) raffigurano episodi della vita dei santi.
