La iglesia Sainte Barbe fue construida en 1938-1939 según los planos del arquitecto Claude Robbe y terminada por Alphonse Fenaud, su sucesor; está dedicada a Sainte Barbe, patrona de los mineros.
Construida íntegramente en metal, con una estructura portante de acero y revestimientos de chapa pintada, la iglesia fue concebida como prototipo para la producción en serie de iglesias destinadas a los territorios por evangelizar. Los talleres Mauméjean de París realizaron una vidriera que representa a Santa Bárbara, basada en una caricatura de Hélène Delaroche. Las pinturas murales de Nicolas Untersteller (marido de Hélène Delaroche) representan episodios de la vida de los santos.
