Sainte Barbe church was built in 1938-1939 to plans by architect Claude Robbe and completed by Alphonse Fenaud, his successor; it is dedicated to Sainte Barbe, patron saint of miners.
Built entirely in metal, with a load-bearing steel structure and painted sheet metal facings, the church was conceived as a prototype for the mass production of churches for the territories to be evangelized. A stained-glass window depicting Sainte Barbe was created by the Mauméjean workshops in Paris, based on a cartoon by Hélène Delaroche. Wall paintings by Nicolas Untersteller (Hélène Delaroche's husband) depict episodes from the lives of the saints.
Outdoor visit only.
