Un antico luogo di pellegrinaggio alla Vergine Maria, che si dice sia stato fondato da un duca di Borgogna, che si perse nei boschi mentre si recava a Compostela, da cui il nome Bergounhoux. Il successo di questo luogo di devozione fu notevole: nel 1524 si dice che vi si trovasse la più importante confraternita della diocesi. I Vezins, protettori del luogo, lo mantennero: nel 1431 Vezian de Vezins fece costruire una cappella contenente una Pietà dell'inizio del XVI secolo.
