Het ontvangstgebouw is een symmetrisch ontworpen complex met een gevelstaande middenpartij, die twee volle verdiepingen heeft, en twee éénlaagse, gevelstaande zijvleugels. Door de latere aanbouw van een voorgeschakelde cabine voor de treinverkeersleider werd deze oorspronkelijke bouwstijl verstoord. Met de renovatie van het station en de modernisering van de Odenwaldlijn in 2008 verdween dit, waardoor de oorspronkelijke vorm van het station opnieuw werd hersteld.
