Description

Het Ossuarium, een emblematisch monument van het slagveld, herbergt ongeveer 130.000 niet-geïdentificeerde lichamen van Franse en Duitse soldaten.
Het toegangskaartje geeft recht op een twintig minuten durende vertoning van "Verdun des hommes de Boue" (vertoningen elk half uur, capaciteit 144 zitplaatsen. Gelijktijdige vertaling in het Duits, Engels, Nederlands, Russisch en Chinees) en een rondleiding door het klooster, de kapel en de toren, die een panoramisch uitzicht biedt over het hele slagveld. Voor het ossuarium ligt de immense Nationale Necropolis van Douaumont, waar meer dan 16.000 Franse soldaten begraven liggen.
