De huidige San Salvatorkerk is een voorbeeld van de cursus kerkelijke architectuur, die in de jaren 1953 tot 1956 in 's-Hertogenbosch onder leiding van Nico van der Laan werd gegeven. Ze heeft stijlkenmerken van de Bossche School en van de Neo-Romaanse architectuur. De kerk is gebouwd rond het altaar als middelpunt. De vrijstaande klokkentoren is geïnspireerd op de "Campanile", zoals deze ondermeer bij Italiaanse kerken veelvuldig voorkomt. In de eerste schetsmaquette is de toren nog aan het hoofdgebouw verbonden, maar in de definitieve opzet is voor een vrijstaande plaats gekozen.
