In den Jahren 1914–1918 wurde es im Krieg zerstört . 1927 wurde es durch eine Büste von Alphonse Colle ersetzt. 1942-44: Unter dem Vichy-Regime wurde es aufgelöst . 1954: Ersetzung durch eine Büste von Dumont, basierend auf der von Alphonse Colle.
Arthus Rimbaud war einer der größten französischen Dichter und wurde in Charleville-Mézières geboren.
