A few days after the decision to use the village of Brûly-de-Pesche as Hitler's headquarters, it was decided to completely expel the population from the region. On 27 and 28 May 1940, 28 villages around the 'Wolf's Ravine' were evacuated. The inhabitants had to find shelter in Philippevile and Walcourt, without knowing why they were being evicted. They could not return home before the end of June and even the beginning of July. At the same time, eighty people were taken hostage and locked up in the prison of Dinant.
