Wat Phraya Tikaram befindet sich außerhalb der Stadtinsel im östlichen Teil von Ayutthaya, im Unterbezirk Phai Ling. Das Kloster liegt am Südufer von Khlong Kramang. Der Name des Kanals ändert sich in Khlong Ban Bat, wenn er westlich von Wat Phraya Tikaram weiterfließt und mit Khlong Dusit zusammentrifft, um schließlich den neuen Pa Sak River neben der Stadtinsel zu erreichen. Im Osten, an der Kreuzung mit Khlong Hantra, fließt Khlong Khao Mao, ein Nebenfluss des Pa Sak River, der in Tha Ruea entspringt.
Wat Thung Yi (außer Betrieb) steht im Westen, während Wat Krasang (aktiver Tempel) im Osten ist.
Wat Phraya Tikaram ist ein aktives Kloster, das früher als Wat Phra Yat, Wat Phop Yat bekannt war. Das Heiligtum ist auf einer Karte von 1916 n. Chr. als Wat Phra Phop vermerkt.
