El temple va ser construït al segle XIV , adjacent a l' enorme monestir carmélite d'aquella època, construït cap al segle XII. Després de les primeres intervencions l'any 1514, l'església va ser totalment reformada l'any 1633. El monestir va ser reformat diverses vegades fins a ser enderrocat l'any 1905 per construir-hi una escola.
L'església és un bell exemple d' art barroc amb dues entrades: la primera és a la façana principal, reconstruïda al segle XIX; el segon és un elegant portal de pedra barroc de bonic disseny.
Al costat de la façana secundària hi ha un campanar de pedra del segle XVIII .
