Aquesta església romànica, del segle XIII , amb reconstrucció neoclàssica, va ser seu de la Col·legiada de Valença i del bisbat de Ceuta.

A l'interior destaca la cadira episcopal gòtic-mudèjar , del segle XV, única pintura de la Verge de la Llet que va escapar a la Inquisició a Portugal. Al cor alt hi ha un orgue de principis del segle XVI.

A fora hi ha un gran cementiri.
