Breendonklaan verweist auf das Fort von Breendonk: Ursprünglich war das Fort während des Zweiten Weltkriegs das Hauptquartier der belgischen Armee, bald wurde es jedoch von der deutschen Gestapo als Übergangslager für Widerstandskämpfer und Juden genutzt.
Die Fritz Vinckelaan (und seine Frau) Seraphine Zoetestraat, Louis Vander Schaeghestraat, Henri Vanblaerestraat, Maurice Lagravièrestraat und Frans Provoostplein (siehe Foto) sind nach den Widerstandskämpfern benannt, die während des Zweiten Weltkriegs in den Konzentrationslagern umkamen.
