Il pozzo dell'assedio fu costruito tra il 1679 e il 1690 per rifornire d'acqua la popolazione civile. È profondo 60 metri ed è alimentato da una sorgente. Il nome "pozzo a prova di bomba" è dovuto al suo enorme tetto a volta. Dei 5 pozzi scavati in passato, è l'unico rimasto e oggi ospita l'Ufficio del Turismo di Greater Longwy.
Il pozzo d'assedio è una delle tappe della visita guidata alle fortificazioni di Vauban, iscritte nella lista del patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO.
