Historie
I 1919 byggede kunstneren Carl Garschagen fra den tyske Siegburg en villa her. Han malede helst natur og skyer og har sandsynligvis givet navnet. Efter ham boede frøken Brantsen der, som kom fra Rheden. I 1931 blev Wolkenland med villaen købt af Amsterdams Lyceum som skolehus. Tolv hektar skov gik til Huis Bergh. Bygningen på bakken blev i 1932 ødelagt af brand og i 1944 af krigshandlinger. I den svære tid med genopbygning lykkedes det igen Gunning at få tilladelse og midler til byggeriet af det nuværende Wolkenland. Det blev officielt åbnet den 28. juni 1952 af den daværende minister In 't Veld.
I mange år har Wolkenland været skolehus for Amsterdams Lyceum. Wolkenland har nu været entusiastisk ledet af bestyrelsesparret Jacqueline og Kees Veraart i 27 år.
