CHAPELLE SAINT-GENEST ET MAISON DE RABELAIS

Description

Ce bâtiment connu sous le nom de chapelle Saint-Genest est, à l’origine, un hôtel particulier gothique construit au 12ème siècle. A l’angle de la rue d’Enfer et de la Jurue, se trouvait la maison voisine, connue dans la tradition messine comme l’asile de Rabelais lors de son séjour à Metz de 1542 à 1547. Il n'en reste aujourd'hui qu'une porte et une fenêtre remontées contre le mur au fond du petit jardin.
