Tarmow ligger i udkanten af landsbyen Bellin syd for Rhinluchs. På den vestlige side af byen passerer landevejen L 16; en kilometer vest herfra løber A 24.
I året 1294 blev Tarmow nævnt første gang som Terme i et dokument. I næsten tre hundrede år var det i besiddelse af biskopperne i Havelberg. Derefter kom det til Fehrbellin amt. Den historiske bykerne ligger omkring landsbyvejen.
